Coverage

Where we work,
and what each part needs

Essex is roughly fifty miles across and it does not behave like one place. Here is how we think about it, what the housing and the access are like in each part, and which towns have a page of their own.

01

The A12 corridor

CM1 · CM2 · CM3 · CM8 · CO1–CO4

Chelmsford, Witham, Colchester and the towns strung between them. A mix of Victorian terrace, interwar semi and a great deal of very recent building. Access is generally good; the road itself is the variable, and at the wrong hour it is a significant one.

  • Chelmsford
  • Springfield
  • Great Baddow
  • Witham
  • Kelvedon
  • Colchester
  • Stanway
  • Wivenhoe
02

The estuary and the Thurrock coast

SS0 · SS1 · SS2 · SS9 · SS13–SS17 · RM16–RM20

Southend, Westcliff, Leigh, Basildon and the Thurrock towns down by the crossing. The most flat-heavy part of the county and the most seasonal — seafront parking and lift dimensions are the recurring questions from June to September.

  • Southend-on-Sea
  • Westcliff
  • Leigh-on-Sea
  • Rayleigh
  • Hadleigh
  • Canvey Island
  • Basildon
  • Grays
  • Tilbury
03

The London-facing commuter belt

CM13 · CM14 · CM15 · CM16 · IG7 · IG10

Brentwood, Shenfield, Hutton, Epping, Loughton and Chigwell. Larger family houses with driveways and garages, and volumes that come in above the room count because nobody counts the loft. Sits on the M25, which makes it the best-connected part of the county for a long move.

  • Brentwood
  • Shenfield
  • Hutton
  • Ingatestone
  • Epping
  • Loughton
  • Chigwell
  • Billericay
04

North Essex — market towns and villages

CM6 · CM7 · CM77 · CB10 · CO9

Braintree, Halstead, Great Dunmow, Saffron Walden and the lanes around them. Timber-framed houses, listed frontages, streets laid out for carts, and farms where the outbuildings hold more than the house. Everything here is surveyed before a vehicle is allocated.

  • Braintree
  • Bocking
  • Halstead
  • Coggeshall
  • Finchingfield
  • Great Bardfield
  • Great Dunmow
  • Saffron Walden
05

The east coast and the Dengie

CO13–CO16 · CM0 · CM9

Clacton, Frinton, Walton, Maldon, Burnham and the Dengie peninsula. Long runs from anywhere else in the county, bungalow belts, caravan and park-home sites, and a handful of addresses where the lane decides the vehicle. Priced as the distance it actually is.

  • Clacton-on-Sea
  • Frinton
  • Walton-on-the-Naze
  • Maldon
  • Burnham-on-Crouch
  • Southminster
  • Tollesbury

Town pages

Six towns written up in detail

These are the places where the local detail genuinely changes how a move runs — so each has its own page rather than a name swapped into a template. Everywhere else in the county is covered from the same yards and quoted the same way.

Distance is part of the price, openly

In a county this size, travel time is real money. A move inside Basildon and a move from Epping to Frinton are not the same day's work, and a quote that pretends otherwise has simply hidden the difference somewhere else. So distance is one of the four things we price on, stated rather than buried.

Beyond the county

A lot of Essex work does not end in Essex — London, the Home Counties, the Midlands, the North, or abroad. Those are planned as longer household moves around the M25 and the A12 north. Moves that keep going past the Channel are on removals from Essex to Europe.

Not sure whether your address counts as ours? Put it on the quote form and we will tell you straight.

Is your town on the list?

Send both addresses, your dates if you have them, and a sense of what is going. We will read it properly and come back with a written quote.
